Before you start
- Accounting access.
- The firm’s billing and financial configuration.
Typical workflow
- 1
Record time, expenses, payments, or other enabled financial activity against the correct matter and person.
- 2
Review unbilled and staged items before they are included in an invoice or other financial workflow.
- 3
Create and verify invoices using the firm’s configured billing information.
- 4
Reconcile payments, balances, trust activity, and any enabled accounting connection according to firm procedure.
Time & Billing in a matter
The matter workspace can organize Summary, Billing Entries, Invoices, Project Funds, and Settings, including available balances and unbilled time, expense, or flat-fee information.
Time, flat fees, and expenses
Authorized users can add time entries, flat fees, and expenses to the correct matter. Review dates, people, rates, categories, descriptions, supporting material, and billing state before the entry is used downstream.
Create and review invoices
Invoice preparation can include invoice and due dates, a billing period, selected time or flat-fee entries, linked invoice files, and totals. Review the source entries and generated document before saving or sending the invoice through firm procedure.
Invoice Staging
When available to the user’s role, Invoice Staging separates pending, processed, error, and all items and supports search, filtering, selection, accounting treatment, account choice, and review before processing.
QuickBooks Online connection
If a QuickBooks Online connection is separately confirmed and enabled for the firm, authorized users can review staged expense or trust-accounting work and resolve mapping or processing exceptions before treating records as reconciled.
Availability boundaries
Accounting access is role- and configuration-dependent. Areas marked as coming soon and named external services should not be treated as active capabilities without separate confirmation, and an enabled connection does not replace review by the firm’s authorized accounting personnel.
Keep in mind
- Financial actions should be reviewed by an authorized person; platform totals do not replace the firm’s accounting controls.
