Connected services

Understanding the visible external-service connections that may be available to a configured firm.

On this page

Before you start

  • The applicable service enabled for the firm.
  • An authorized account and owner for the connected workflow.

Typical workflow

  1. 1

Confirm that the service is available and enabled for the firm and intended user.

  2. 2

Review the signed-in account, mapping, number, calendar, or document context the connection will use.

  3. 3

Test a representative noncritical workflow before depending on the connection broadly.

  4. 4

Review staged or returned work inside PlaintiffDesk before treating the external step as complete.

  5. 5

Escalate expired access, mapping differences, provisioning issues, or synchronization failures to the firm’s connection owner.

Microsoft account and calendar connection

If Microsoft sign-in or Outlook calendar connectivity is separately confirmed and enabled for the firm, review which calendars, recipients, and user account are active before pushing an approved event.

Google Workspace connection

If Google account or calendar connectivity is separately confirmed and enabled, its behavior depends on the firm’s configured services and the signed-in account.

QuickBooks Online

If a QuickBooks Online connection is separately confirmed and enabled, authorized accounting users can review connection status, mappings, and staged expense or trust-accounting work before processing approved records.

Office document editing

If Office editing is separately confirmed and enabled, eligible documents may offer web or desktop editing and a configured return path for changes to the case document.

Text and fax services

Firm Communications can expose messaging registration, number or service readiness, fax configuration, and provisioning notes before enabled users send from case context.

Keep in mind

  • Connected-service availability varies by firm configuration, user access, service readiness, and the external account involved.
  • A service named in this guide is an example of a connection the workflow can describe, not a commitment that the service is currently available to every firm. Obtain confirmation before planning around a named provider.
